In 1944, war correspondent Ernie Pyle and producer Jerome Cowan approached director William Wellman to direct The Story of G.I. Joe, a screen adaptation of Pyle's books Here Is Your War and Brave Men. At first, Wellman refused. This is the story of what changed his mind.

In this episode, I mistakenly referred to producer Lester Cowan as "Jerome."
